So quick update...
After a bitterly cold but enlightening winter, a fairly mellow spring, and a hellish summer I have plunged back into school at EMU. My last semester is halfway through and the past eight weeks have flown by as I've student taught at Thomas Harrison Middle School. I've enjoyed my sixth graders (Language Arts) so much that I really don't want my last day to be Thursday. Although, at this point, after Rachel's wedding and all that being a bridesmaid entails, tutoring, attempting to have a social life, and trying to get through the Harry Potter books (finally) among too many other things, I am ready for a break. Which I will have; however, I'll spend it at a Faith and Sustainability conference in West Virginia. I just wish I was returning to my sixth graders after that break. I will be heading to John Wayland Elementary, instead, to teach in second grade. I'm pretty nervous about it, but sure I will love the kids.
Overall, things are okay. Being a student teacher is pretty tough work (it's the reflective seminar that really drains you), but it is worth it!
i'm in the process of moving over to ------endelea.wordpress.com------. if you happen to actually read my blog here, consider switching to that one. for right now all posts will be the same...

After a four month absence...
14 June 2007
I haven't really updated because I haven't felt like there is much to update on...oh well. I've finished up the semester pretty well. Went through graduation ceremony events which were fun because I was with friends, but felt slightly weird because I didn't actually graduate. That doesn't happen till December...
I'm working at EMU this summer in the Biology department. I take care of the snakes, mice, frogs, fish, crabs, other sea creatures, crickets, and other critters. I also take care of the arboretum (proving to be a discouraging job for one person) and the greenhouse. I also do odd projects such as record all the chemicals in the chem store room and washing and cleaning various equipment and tools. I like my job for the most part. It would be great if I had someone to talk to more often, but I'm adjusting.
I'm also working at Food Lion again...cashiering. And then I babysit on the weekends some. So I'm busy, but it's all going pretty well.
There isn't much else going on...guess I'll update when I have something exciting to write about!

I guess it's about time for a mid-semester update...
Nothing much is happening this week, but it is spring break next week! I'm going to be heading down to Jubilee Partners with an group from EMU. I'm looking forward to it mostly. I am really, really hoping it will be warmer, even if only slightly more than here. I really am ready for warm weather to stay around here! Last Wednesday was so beautiful! I was walking back to school for my next class at 2:30 and I walked very slowly and enjoyed the sun!
However, there is snow once again! Oh well! I did just get my bike back yesterday, so I was kind of bummed that it wasn't a great day for riding.
But enough complaining. I've got a week off to look forward to!
In other news, Rachel came up and spent the night. We had a great time. Talked a bunch, laughed, teased Rockie, eat some yummy food, and just had fun actually spending time together. It's been too long since we've done that! I love being able to pick up right where we left off.
I'm losing my focus here, I think I'll head off for now.
